Frederick M. Wong finds it important to be curious of everyday details that speak beauty in unexpected ways. These unintended human traces discovered in particular moments and places fascinate him. Living in a superdense city with a very fast pace, he regularly ‘decelerates’ to find balance in a chaotic world. Calmness is the recurring quality found in his works.

Inspired by French pioneer photographer Eugene Atget, he is currently working on a black & white cities series that deals with the essence of making photographs – light and time. These works overlay aesthetic imagery with context to evoke meaning and emotion in order for a viewer to form opinions.

His editorial photographs have been published in Hong Kong newspapers, magazines and company websites.

He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree at U.C. Berkeley, U.S.A. He lives and works in Hong Kong.
